Chapter Five
Roach groaned when he stood on the docks on the harbor with the party behind him motioning him to get on board, he was taking a loss after being Alex’s friend and helper during their time at the Academy, Roach was about to graduate when they grabbed him from the dungeon entrance forced him to find Alex to deliver a letter, in the dark races lands no less! He had no idea where he was, but with the help of some magic, he had a find person compass on him, it would point in the general direction of Alex and be only useable to people below Level 40, for that is when they gained an advanced class.
The sea was calm when they slowly started to crawl out of the bay, Roach wanted to jump into the sea and swim back to shore, but his five other party members would not leave him alive if he failed this mission, his party was a group of five assassins. He knew they did not want anything good to happen to Alex, but he had to do this.
“There will be a week before we reach Freehold, this is an old boat, and from there you are on your own, the dark lands are not so easily traversable for a group of noobs like such.” The captain said out of almost spite when he spat on the ground and left.
Roach took one last look and let out a sigh and walked down into his cabin, at least they were on a boat designed to ferry people instead of just goods, his bedroom was a single room no bigger than a closet. Still, he at least had a bed for himself, he would spend the majority of his time on that bed thinking about the whole situation.
Liara thrust her sword into the salamander which let out a whimper before vanishing and turning into a pouch, Alex was just about to finish with his group as well when he cast a windblast scurrying them to the side, the shapeshifter was now a salamander but twice the size biting onto their necks killing them while they were down on the ground, their teamwork had improved a lot. They were a few days away from the tower, they had walked around a few areas and taken the scenic route to gain more experience, Alex and Liara were just about to hit Level 19 after these monsters.
He had worn the grimoire and the belt but not encountered any demon yet, which meant it was a little chance of that happening anytime soon, perhaps the dungeons would be more forgiving in that regard, but he pressed on and finally, the last salamander died. They both got to level 19 due to being in a party, which was a spell Liara had taught him to a party outside dungeons. It was mostly a mental command like he did every day with his summons, so it was quick to learn.
